DESCRIPTION:
Nautical Instruments- 4 (Four) Telescopic Alidades: Ajax Engineering, Chicago, IL, for Bureau of Ships, "U.S. Navy Telescopic Alidade, Mark II, Mod. 3", each with telescopes, mounted on 10 inch diameter horizontal circular, the inner beveled edge graduated counterclockwise in degrees, turned finger lugs, high-angle prism attachment with associated bubble level, all in dovetailed wood boxes with brass hardware.
CONDITION:
The telescopic alidade is for use on a compass, gyro-compass repeater, or pelorus stand to take bearings on distant objects when greater accuracy is required compared to a standard azimuth circle or bearing circle. The cases and instruments show wear commensurate with age and use. Parts may be missing. Dimensions are for wood case.
